ADBR began its analysis of the 2009 DCP in Vol 28 No 03, which contained an explanation of the methodology used to develop our unique 'DCP at a Glance' spreadsheet. Further commentary ran over into the next two issues - Vol 28 Nos 04/05 and Vol 28 Nos 07/08. An index to the acronyms used to support the 'DCP at a Glance' spreadsheet can be freely downloaded from here.

Following February's release of the DCP Update, ADBR researchers have completely reviewed the spreadsheet contents, effective to 30 June 2010, and including the 2010/11 Australian Defence Budget and subsequent Parliamentary Hearings on the Defence Forward Estimates.

The current spreadsheet tracks all of the 150 new ADF military capability development acquisition proposals canvassed in the 2009 Defence White Paper, the accompanying Defence Capability Plan and the latest DCP Update - as advised by Government as likely to be addressed via pre-acquisition activity over the next 10-15 years.

ADBR's 'DCP at a Glance' is a big spreadsheet, so print outs more comfortably on an A3 sheet. Subscribers are also provided with an A1-sized printed version of the V150 chart, as an inclusion in mailings of Vol 29,  No 01/02 (distributed July 2010). For users without an A3 print sheet capability, we have also broken down the master chart into eight tablets across the Sea, Joint Projects, Land, Air and DEF domains. This will be distributed electronically in August as Version 160.

GUIDE TO TABLET LAYOUT: Tablet 'A' covers all project/project phases in terms of their specific capability details (left hand side of the master 'DCP at a Glance' spreadsheet), whilst Tablet 'B' covers the same project/project phases, but from the scheduling & budget analysis perspectives (right hand side of the master 'DCP at a Glance' spreadsheet).
